ASL is American Sign Language that I was born Deaf and began learning this language. My hearing parents and siblings also learned ASL as their secondary language. English was my secondary language.
I attended both Colorado school for the Deaf and Blind and Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. I received High School Distinguished diploma from ASDB.
I graduated Gallaudet University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree and Western Maryland College with Master’s degree in 1998. I worked as Resident Education Assistant at Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Kendall Green for 10 years.
I began my teaching at KSD in 1998. I taught High School Vocational Education classes for few years, then High School Science for one year. I was asked to teach HS English for 5 years and now is in third years as ASL teacher for all kindergarten to high school KSD students.
I am Coed Cross Country coach, and Girls Track team coach and now as a Junior National Association sponsor.
My experiences were gained by being a camper and a counselor/chef at various camps: Aspen Camp in Colorado, Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) in Minnesota, Gallaudet Summer Camp, KSD Summer School and Agriculture Camp during the summer months for several years.
My hobbies are sewing, reading books and traveling. While traveling, I had visited almost all residential schools, and many National Parks in America.
