KSD Reopening School Plan for 2020-2021

October 1, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello families! We wanted to let you know we have been working with the Kentucky Department of Education and our local Health Department to prepare our classrooms and dorms as a safe place for your student(s) this year. Additionally, we are using the Covid-19 Mode of Instruction Metrics for K-12 Education to guide us on a safe return to in-person learning. We have not identified a return date yet but will give all advance notice prior to the return so you can plan accordingly.

Many parents may not be aware of a Kentucky law that has been in place since 2007 which requires parents to report to their child’s schools if their student has a communicable disease that could put other students and school staff at risk for infection. One example is chicken pox, state public health regulations have updated to include the reporting of COVID-19 within 24 hours as one of those communicable diseases.

Here is where we need your help. If your student tests positive for COVID-19 at any time regardless if they are in-person or virtual, please report it to the school by calling the Nurse Administrator, Kelly Bullock at 859-326-6205 between the hours of 8am-4pm within 24 hours that a student tests positive. It is very important we take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading among students.

To allow us to best track the educational needs of your student, please immediately let us know if your child has been placed in quarantine due to COVID-19.

We hope your family stays healthy and safe. Thank you so much for all your flexibility and hard work as we get through this time together. Please contact us with any questions.

Respectfully,

Toyah Robey
